I confront sculpture from
the point of view of a painter: there is so much planning one
can do, but during the creative process I relay on my ability
to solve formal problems as I would when working on a painting,
but with sculpture I'd adapt my skills on the process. I compose
with the loose components in the floor, and move them around
until dialectic emerges between the different parts. I then carve,
relaying on geometry and organic forms, paint the timber's surface,
and carve drawings on its surface. This piece is a departure from the figure in my sculpture. This piece is about organic matter and suggestion. |
